Cocktail

2 oz vodka (plain, chilled)

1/2 oz Fresh lime juice

1/2 oz simple syrup (1:1 sugar to water)

4 cubes ice (cubed)

Garnish & Glass

1 piece lime wheel or wedge

1 tsp coarse salt (optional, for rimming)

1 piece cold rocks glass or coupe

Equipment

1 piece cocktail shaker

1 piece jigger or measuring tool

1 piece strainer

1 piece muddler or spoon (optional, for salt)

Method

Prepare Glass

If you prefer a salted rim, rub the lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into a shallow dish with coarse salt to coat. Otherwise, chill the glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes.

Make Cocktail

Measure

Measure 2 oz chilled vodka, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup with a jigger.

Add to Shaker

Fill the cocktail shaker about halfway with cubed ice (approximately 4 cubes). Pour the measured vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup over the ice.

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold. Shaking both chills and dilutes the drink slightly for balance.

Strain

Using a strainer, pour the cocktail into the prepared chilled glass. For a rocks-style serve, add fresh ice to the glass before straining; for a neat coupe-style serve, strain without additional ice.

Garnish & Serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
