Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Build and stir

Add 2 oz Redwood Rye, 0.75 oz Averna Amaro, 0.5 oz Carpano Antica, 0.25 tsp simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters to a mixing glass. Fill the mixing glass with large ice until nearly full.

2

Chill and dilute

Stir the mixture briskly with a bar spoon for 30–40 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until the outside of the mixing glass is well chilled and the liquid is properly diluted and slightly viscous.

3

Prepare glass

Place 1 large ice cube (or 2 medium) into a chilled rocks glass.

4

Strain

Using a Hawthorne or julep strainer, strain the stirred cocktail into the prepared rocks glass over the ice.

5

Express garnish

Hold an orange peel over the glass and give it a firm twist to express the oils over the surface of the drink, then rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the glass as garnish.

6

Serve

Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the interplay of spicy rye, bitter‑sweet Averna, and rich aromatics from Carpano Antica.

Ice & Tools

7

If using large one‑piece ice, freeze in an insulated mold ahead of time. Use a clean bar spoon and strainer. Ensure all tools are chilled if serving multiple cocktails to maintain consistency.
