Prepare Cocktail
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 3/4 full). Add gin (or vodka), Crème de Violette, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. If you want a deeper purple hue, add the optional blue curaçao.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and the drink is well aerated. This chills and dilutes to the proper level.
Discard the ice (or ice water) from the chilled glass. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice using a cocktail strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and any pulp.
Finish & Serve
Gently top the cocktail with 1.5 oz sparkling wine for a celebratory fizz, or with 1.5 oz club soda if you prefer non-alcoholic fizz. Pour slowly over the back of a spoon to preserve the layered color if desired.
Express the lemon twist over the drink by holding it skin-side down and giving it a quick pinch to release oils, then rub the rim with the twist and drop it into the cocktail.
Float an edible violet or small edible flower on the surface for a striking presentation.
Serve immediately. Sip and enjoy the floral, citrus, and subtly sweet violet-forward profile.
