Preparation

1

Optional rim

If you want a sugared rim, run a lime wedge around the serving glass edge and dip the rim in coarse sugar (or salt if you prefer). Set the glass aside to dry briefly.

2

In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh blackberries and the agave syrup. Muddle firmly until the berries are broken down and the mixture is purplish and syrupy (about 15–20 seconds).

3

Add the Cuervo Tradicional Silver tequila (2 oz), blackberry liqueur (0.75 oz), and fresh lime juice (0.75 oz) to the shaker.

4

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to nearly fill it). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well chilled.

5

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass (a coupe or rocks glass with fresh ice) using both the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove seeds and solids.

6

Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and a fresh blackberry dropped onto a pick or floated in the drink. Serve immediately.
