Classic Bloody Mary (serves 1)

Method

Classic Bloody Mary (serves 1)

1

Prepare glass

Rub a lemon wedge around the rim of a tall glass and dip the rim in celery salt (optional). Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill.

2

Build the cocktail

In a cocktail shaker (no need to shake vigorously), add vodka, tomato juice, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, prepared horseradish, a pinch of celery salt (from measured amount), and several turns of freshly ground black pepper. Add a few ice cubes and gently roll or stir the mixture 4–6 times to combine and chill without diluting too much.

3

Taste and adjust

Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning: add more hot sauce for heat, more lemon for brightness, or more Worcestershire for umami. If it needs extra saltiness, add a little more celery salt.

4

Garnish and serve

Strain or pour the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a celery stalk and a sweet spicy pickle spear or a few thin pickle slices stuck on a cocktail pick. Serve with a straw and an extra dash of black pepper on top.

Cassie's Classy Mimosa (serves 1)

5

Chill glass and ingredients

Chill a champagne flute or coupe in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes. Ensure orange juice and prosecco are well chilled.

6

Combine

Pour the cold orange juice into the chilled glass. Gently top with cold prosecco — pour slowly down the side or over the back of a spoon to preserve bubbles. Aim for roughly equal parts orange juice and prosecco.

7

Garnish and serve

Twist an orange peel over the drink to release oils and drop it or place a thin orange slice on the rim. Serve immediately.

The Perfect Screwdriver (serves 1)

8

Chill glass

Place a highball or Collins glass in the refrigerator or fill it with ice to chill briefly. Discard the chilling ice before building if desired.

9

Build and stir

Fill the glass with fresh ice cubes. Pour in the vodka and fresh orange juice. Add two dashes of orange bitters if using. Stir gently with a bar spoon 6–8 times to combine and lightly chill.

10

Garnish and serve

Slip an orange wheel onto the rim or float it in the drink. Serve immediately.

The Morning Mule (serves 1)

11

Chill mug or glass

If you have a copper mule mug, chill it ahead of time. Otherwise, chill a highball glass.

12

Combine and mix

Fill the chilled mug or glass with ice. Add vodka (or bourbon) and fresh lime juice. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add the simple syrup. Stir once to combine.

13

Top and garnish

Top with chilled ginger beer and give a gentle stir to integrate without flattening the fizz. Garnish with a lime wheel or a piece of candied ginger on a pick. Serve immediately.
