Bread
Olive Oil Dip
Method
Making the Bread
Prepare the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape and Second Rise
After the first rise, punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf or desired shape, and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
Bake the Bread
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Cool the Bread
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
Preparing Olive Oil Dip
Mix the Ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk together the extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, dried oregano, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
Serve
Serve the fresh bread warm with the olive oil dip on the side.
