Berry Lemonade (Non-caffeinated, ages 3+)
Creamy Banana-Mango Smoothie (Ages 2+)
Cucumber Apple Cooler (Mild, ages 3+)
Method
Berry Lemonade (Non-caffeinated, ages 3+)
Make the berry puree
Place the hulled quartered strawberries and blueberries into a blender with 1/2 cup of the water. Blend until smooth, about 20–30 seconds. If a very smooth drink is desired, strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing solids with the back of a spoon. Reserve the puree.
Mix lemonade
In a pitcher combine the fresh lemon juice, the remaining 3.5 cups of water, and the honey or maple syrup. Stir until the sweetener dissolves. Taste and adjust sweetness; for younger children keep it mildly sweet.
Combine and chill
Stir the berry puree into the lemonade base until evenly mixed. Add ice cubes and gently bruise a few mint leaves between your fingers and drop them in for aroma (optional). Serve cold in small cups (about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per child). Leftover lemonade keeps covered in the fridge for up to 48 hours.
Creamy Banana-Mango Smoothie (Ages 2+)
Blend the smoothie
Place the ripe banana, frozen mango chunks, yogurt, milk, honey (if using), and ground cinnamon into a blender. Blend on high until completely smooth and creamy, about 30–60 seconds. If the mixture is too thick for the child, add up to 1/4 cup more milk to reach desired consistency.
Serve
Pour into small cups (about 3/4 to 1 cup per serving). Serve immediately. If preparing ahead, keep chilled in the refrigerator and stir before serving; consume within 12 hours for best texture and safety.
Cucumber Apple Cooler (Mild, ages 3+)
Assemble the cooler
Add the apple juice and ice cubes to the pitcher, stir to combine with the muddled cucumber. Just before serving, gently stir in the sparkling water to preserve fizz.
Garnish and serve
Pour into cups (about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per child). Garnish with an apple slice or cucumber ribbon on the rim. Serve immediately so the sparkling water stays bubbly. Keeps chilled (without sparkling water) for up to 24 hours; add sparkling water just before serving.
