Classic Margarita

Tommy's Margarita (agave-forward)

Method

Classic Margarita

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Spread coarse salt on a small plate and dip the wet rim into the salt to coat. Set glass aside.

  2. 2

    Mix

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.75 oz orange liqueur, and 0.5 oz simple syrup if you prefer a touch sweeter.

  3. 3

    Shake

Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and small shards of ice form.

  4. 4

    Strain & Serve

Double-strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice (or serve neat in a chilled coupe). Garnish with a lime wedge. Taste and adjust: add an extra 0.25 oz simple syrup if too tart.

Frozen Strawberry Margarita (single serving)

  1. 5

    Prepare glass (optional)

If desired, rim a glass with lime and dip in sugar or salt. For a frozen slush, a wide margarita or coupe works well.

  2. 6

    Blend

In a high-speed blender add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.75 oz orange liqueur, 1 cup hulled strawberries (fresh or frozen), 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 1.5 cups ice. Blend on high until smooth and slushy, about 20–40 seconds depending on blender strength.

  3. 7

    Adjust consistency & sweetness

If too thick, add 0.25–0.5 oz water or more lime juice. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes and pulse until desired texture is reached. Taste and add up to 0.25 oz more simple syrup if needed.

  4. 8

    Serve

Pour into the prepared glass. Garnish with a lime wheel or a whole strawberry on the rim.

Tommy's Margarita (agave-forward)

  1. 9

    Mix

Fill a shaker with ice. Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave nectar.

  2. 10

    Shake

Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until chilled and slightly diluted.

  3. 11

    Strain & Serve

Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel. Taste and add an additional 0.25 oz agave if you prefer sweeter.
