Mandarin-Calpico Base
Sparkle & Finish
Method
Mandarin-Calpico Base
- 1
Juice mandarins
If using fresh mandarins, peel and juice enough to yield 3 oz (about 2 medium mandarins). Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a small pitcher to remove pulp and seeds for a smoother finish.
- 2
Combine base ingredients
In a mixing glass or small pitcher, add 3 oz fresh mandarin juice, 1 oz Calpico concentrate, 2 oz cold water, and 0.25 oz simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink. Stir gently for 10–15 seconds until the Calpico dissolves and the mixture is homogeneous.
- 3
Chill slightly
Taste the base and adjust sweetness with more simple syrup if desired. Chill for 1–2 minutes in the fridge or proceed immediately if using a glass filled with ice (the ice will cool it).
Assemble & Serve
- 4
Fill a highball or Collins glass with 1 cup of ice. Pour the prepared mandarin-Calpico base over the ice.
- 5
Top gently with 2 oz club soda or sparkling water to add effervescence. Give the drink one gentle stir (2–3 rotations) to integrate without flattening the bubbles.
- 6
Garnish with 1 mandarin segment or a thin mandarin wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.
