Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Caramelizing the Onions

Slice the large onion into thin rings. In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and stir occasionally. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft and golden brown. Season with a pinch of salt. Remove from heat and set aside.

Mixing the Meat

  1. 2

Prepare the Elk and Sausage Blend

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground elk and 0.5 pound of pork sausage. Add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Forming and Cooking the Sliders

  1. 3

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal portions and form each portion into a small patty, about 1-inch thick.

  2. 4

    Cooking the Sliders

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Assembling the Sliders

  1. 5

    Add Toppings and Serve

Once cooked, place a patty on the bottom half of each slider bun. Top each patty with caramelized onions and sprinkle with 0.5 cup of bleu cheese. Add the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
