Method
Donut Preparation
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the whole milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth. Melt the unsalted butter and let it cool slightly before adding it to the wet mixture.
Combine Mixtures
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the donuts tough.
Fill Donut Pan
Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
Bake Donuts
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed.
Cool Donuts
Remove the donuts from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Glaze Preparation
Make the Glaze
In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, whole milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and pourable. Adjust consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as desired.
Glaze the Donuts
Once the donuts are completely cooled, dip the tops of each donut into the glaze, allowing excess to drip off.
Topping the Donuts
Add Toppings
Immediately after glazing, sprinkle your desired toppings such as sprinkles, chocolate chips, crushed nuts, or coconut flakes on top of the donuts.
