Method

Prepare Fruit Mix

1

Grate or dice apple

Wash the apple, core it and either grate it or finely dice it. If you want to reduce browning, toss the apple with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice.

Combine Base Ingredients

2

In a jar or airtight container (about 16 oz / 500 ml), add 1 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, and 1/4 cup yogurt (if using).

3

Pour in 1 cup low-fat milk and 1 tablespoon honey. Stir thoroughly until the honey is dissolved and the chia seeds are evenly distributed.

4

Add the prepared apple to the oat mixture and stir to combine so the fruit is evenly distributed.

Chill & Set

5

Seal the jar or container with a lid. Refrigerate overnight for at least 6–8 hours, or up to 24 hours. During this time the oats and chia will absorb the liquid and soften to a pudding-like consistency.

Finish & Serve

6

After chilling, stir the oats. If mixture is too thick, stir in additional milk 1–2 tablespoons at a time to reach desired consistency.

7

Taste and adjust sweetness with up to 1 teaspoon extra honey or maple syrup if desired. Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 tablespoon chopped nuts on top for texture. Serve cold.
