Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

If desired, chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes while you prepare the cocktail.

2

If you prefer a sugared rim: rub a grapefruit wedge around the rim of the chilled glass, then dip the rim lightly into a plate of coarse sugar. Set the glass aside.

3

Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice.

4

Add 2 oz Aspen vodka, 1 oz pamplemousse liqueur, 1 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup into the shaker. If you want a slightly deeper ruby color or more tart-sweet balance, add 0.5 oz cranberry or ruby grapefruit juice.

5

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted.

6

Double-strain (using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer) into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove ice shards and any pulp for a silky texture.

Garnish & Serve

7

Express the oils from a grapefruit twist over the cocktail by holding the twist skin-side down over the drink and pinching to release the oils, then drop the twist into the glass or rest a thin wheel on the rim.

8

Serve immediately. Optionally, provide a small cocktail napkin and warn guests that the drink is chilled.
