Cocktail Base

Method

Cocktail Base

1

Muddle

Place 1 whole pitted lychee in a cocktail shaker. Gently muddle just enough to break the flesh and release juices but not turn it into a puree (about 6–8 gentle presses).

2

Add spirits and citrus

Add Tito's vodka (2 oz), elderflower liqueur (0.75 oz), lychee syrup (0.5 oz), optional lychee liqueur (0.25 oz if using), and fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz) into the shaker.

3

Ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is well-chilled.

Strain & Serve

4

Fine strain

Double-strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove lychee solids and ice shards.

5

Optional spritz

If you prefer a lighter spritz-style drink, top the strained cocktail with 1 oz sparkling water or club soda, gently stir once to combine.

Garnish

6

Skewer the remaining whole pitted lychee on a cocktail pick and place across the rim or drop it into the glass. Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, then either discard or place the twist on the rim as garnish.

7

If the cocktail tastes too tart, add up to 0.25 oz simple syrup and stir gently, then re-taste.
