Cocktail Base

Method

Prep

1

Chill glass and ingredients

Place a wine glass or large rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water to chill briefly. Ensure Lyre's Italian Spritz, prosecco/sparkling wine, and club soda are well chilled.

2

If using simple syrup and you don't have it prepared, make a quick batch by dissolving equal parts sugar and hot water and cooling before use. Measure orange juice from a fresh orange.

Build the Spritz

3

Add ice

Discard any ice water from the chilled glass and fill the glass with 4–6 large ice cubes, leaving room for ingredients and bubbles.

4

Pour Lyre's and orange juice

Add 3 oz Lyre's Italian Spritz and 1/2 oz fresh orange juice directly over the ice. The Italian Spritz spirit substitute provides the bitter‑herbal backbone and orange adds fresh brightness.

5

Add sweetener

Add 1/4 teaspoon simple syrup or agave to taste. Stir gently once to incorporate; the spritz should be lightly sweetened but still bittersweet and refreshing.

6

Top with bubbles

Pour 2 oz chilled prosecco or non‑alcoholic sparkling wine into the glass, then top with 2 oz chilled club soda or sparkling water. Pour slowly to preserve carbonation. Do not vigorously stir after adding sparkling components—just a gentle lift and drop of the bar spoon if needed to combine.

Garnish & Serve

7

Garnish the drink with one fresh orange wheel or slice slipped onto the rim or floated on top. Optionally add a single green olive on a pick for a savory counterpoint or a small sprig of rosemary for aromatic lift.

8

Serve immediately while effervescent. Suggest serving with a straw or without so the aroma of the orange and botanicals is experienced directly.
