1. Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and place it on paper towels to drain, then crumble it into pieces.

2. Prepare the Grits

In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the grits and salt. Reduce the heat to low and cook the grits for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

Fold in the crumbled bacon, and reserve some for garnish if desired. Mix well until the bacon is evenly distributed.

5. Serve

Serve the bacon cheddar grits hot, garnished with chopped green onions and any reserved bacon.
