Method

Prep & Rim

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Choose a chilled coupe or martini glass. Rub the lemon wedge around the rim of the glass to moisten it evenly.

  2. 2

Pour the tablespoon of granulated sugar onto a small plate. Dip the moistened rim into the sugar and twist to coat evenly. Set the glass aside to let the rim set while you mix the cocktail.

Muddle & Shake

  1. 3

    Muddle blueberries

Place 8 fresh blueberries into a cocktail shaker. Add 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice and 0.5 oz simple syrup (if using sour mix substitute). Gently muddle the blueberries until they are crushed and have released juice and color, but not completely pureed (about 15–20 seconds).

  2. 4

    Add spirits and sour mix

Add 2 oz Stoli Blueberi vodka, 1 oz limoncello, and 1 oz sour mix (or the additional 0.5 oz lemon juice + 0.5 oz simple syrup if using the substitute) to the shaker with the muddled blueberries.

  3. 5

    Ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly frothy from the muddled berries.

Strain & Serve

  1. 6

    Double strain

Discard any excess ice from your prepared glass. Using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh (or a julep) strainer, double-strain the cocktail into the sugar-rimmed chilled glass to remove blueberry solids and seeds. This yields a smooth, slightly purple cocktail.

  2. 7

    Garnish

Skewer 3 fresh blueberries on a cocktail pick and rest across the rim or float in the drink. Add a lemon twist over the cocktail to express oils, then drop it in or place on the rim as desired.

  3. 8

Serve immediately. Optionally, provide a small stir stick so the guest can mix any settled berry at the bottom.
