Pork Rinds
Blackened Seasoning
Finishing & Serving
Method
Prepare Seasoning
Mix spices
In a small bowl combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, kosher salt, cayenne, dried thyme, dried oregano, and brown sugar if using. Whisk or stir thoroughly until evenly blended.
Taste a small pinch of the seasoning (optional) to check balance; adjust cayenne for heat or sugar for sweetness as desired.
Coat Pork Rinds
Place pork rinds in a large mixing bowl. Pour the melted butter over the pork rinds evenly. Use tongs or a spatula to gently toss and coat each piece with butter; the butter helps the dry seasoning stick without making the rinds soggy.
Sprinkle about two-thirds of the blackened seasoning over the butter-coated pork rinds. Toss gently to distribute seasoning; work in small batches if necessary so pieces are evenly coated. Reserve the remaining seasoning for topping and for guests to add more if desired.
If you prefer a more intensely coated chip, return to each piece and lightly press a small amount of the remaining seasoning onto the surface with your fingertips or toss again briefly.
Crisp & Finish (optional oven step)
Warm and marry flavors
If your pork rinds are a bit stale or you want the seasoning to adhere more firmly, preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Spread the seasoned pork rinds in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment. Bake 6–8 minutes—just long enough to warm and set the butter and spices but not long enough to dry or burn the rinds. Remove and cool 2 minutes.
If you prefer to skip the oven, you can let the coated rinds sit in the bowl for 5–10 minutes to allow the seasoning to adhere.
Serve
Transfer the blackened pork rinds to a serving bowl or platter. Sprinkle the reserved seasoning over the top for extra color and kick.
Garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro and arrange lime wedges alongside. Serve immediately with optional ranch or crema for dipping; guests can squeeze lime over individual pieces before eating.
