Brown Gravy

Side Items

Method

Prepare Hamburger Steak

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into 2 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

  3. 3

    Cook Patties

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove patties and set aside.

Prepare Brown Gravy

  1. 4

    Make Roux

In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk continuously for about 2-3 minutes until it turns golden brown.

  2. 5

    Add Broth

Gradually add beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps. Add salt and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 6

    Combine with Patties

Return the hamburger patties to the skillet, spooning gravy over them. Let them simmer together for a few minutes.

Prepare Side Items

  1. 7

    Cook Eggs

In a separate pan, cook the eggs to your liking (fried, scrambled, etc.).

  2. 8

    Cook Hash Browns

In another skillet, cook hash browns according to package instructions or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 9

    Toast Bread

Toast bread slices and spread with butter.

Serve

  1. 10

    Plate the Dish

On each plate, place a hamburger steak topped with gravy, serve with cooked eggs, crispy hash browns, and buttered toast.
