Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip. Cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover the grill or pan to help melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, add a leaf of lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, slices of tomato, onion, and pickles to taste.

  3. 8

    Condiment Application

Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the buns, then place them on top of the assembled burger.
