Method

Prepare Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cook Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If using cheese, add a slice on top of each patty in the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assemble Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare Toppings

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion. Rinse and dry the lettuce leaves.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

Toast the burger buns lightly if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, slices of tomato, and onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun on.
