Method
Preparing the Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Chop Lettuce
Remove the outer leaves of the romaine lettuce, wash the remaining leaves under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Pat dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner. Chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Prepare Parmesan Cheese
Grate or shave the Parmesan cheese using a grater or a vegetable peeler. Set aside for later use.
- 3
Measure Croutons
Measure out 1 cup of croutons and set aside.
Making the Dressing
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, minced anchovy fillets, salt, and black pepper.
- 5
Mix the Dressing
Whisk the ingredients together until well combined and smooth. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper, if necessary.
Assembling the Salad
- 6
Combine Salad Ingredients
In a large salad bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated Parmesan cheese.
- 7
Add Dressing
Drizzle the dressing over the salad ingredients. Start with half of the dressing, then toss to combine. Add more dressing to taste.
- 8
Serve
Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
