Prepare the Glass

Start by chilling an old-fashioned glass by filling it with ice water and letting it sit while you prepare the cocktail.

Muddle the Sugar and Bitters

In a mixing glass, add the demerera sugar and bitters. Muddle until the sugar is dissolved.

Add the Bourbon

Pour in the Old Forester Straight Bourbon and fill the mixing glass with ice. Stir gently for about 30 seconds to chill the mixture.

Prepare the Glass

Discard the ice water from the old-fashioned glass and strain the mixture into the glass filled with fresh ice.

Garnish

Twist the orange peel over the drink to release the oils, then drop it in. Add the Luxardo cherry for garnish.
