Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass (optional salted rim)

If you prefer a salted rim, rub the lime wedge around the outer rim of a highball or Collins glass. Spread the coarse salt or Tajín on a small plate and press the rim into it to coat. Set the glass aside.

2

Juice citrus

Freshly squeeze grapefruit until you have 3 oz (about 1 medium grapefruit) and squeeze the lime to yield 0.5 oz (about half a lime). Strain the grapefruit and lime juices through a fine mesh strainer into a measuring cup to remove pulp and seeds if you prefer a smoother cocktail. Leave pulp if you like more texture.

3

Combine base ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Herradura Silver, 3 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup. Add a handful of ice (enough to chill but not over-dilute; about 4–6 large cubes).

4

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well-chilled (outer shaker should feel very cold).

5

Strain and top

Fill the prepared glass with ice (large cubes or crushed). Strain the shaken mixture into the glass. Top with 2 oz chilled club soda and gently stir once or twice to combine.

6

Garnish and adjust

Garnish with a grapefruit wheel or wedge and a lime wedge on the rim. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding up to 0.25–0.5 oz more agave syrup if needed.

7

Serve

Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer. Enjoy chilled.
