Method

Housemade Bloody Mary Mix

1

Combine and adjust

In a large pitcher or bowl, pour 24 oz tomato juice. Add 2 oz fresh lemon juice, 2 tbs prepared horseradish, 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbs hot sauce, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp celery salt, 0.5 tsp onion powder, 0.5 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp black pepper, and 0.5 tsp sugar. Whisk vigorously until evenly combined.

2

Taste the mix and adjust seasoning as needed: more hot sauce for heat, more Worcestershire for umami, or a pinch more sugar if too acidic. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to let flavors marry. This recipe yields about 24 oz of mix (enough for roughly 6 cocktails).

3

Prepare the glass: rub a lemon wedge around the rim of a highball or pint glass. Dip the rim into a shallow dish of coarse salt or celery salt to coat. Fill the glass with ice (about 1 cup).

4

Build the cocktail: Add 2 oz Tito's Handmade Vodka to a cocktail shaker or directly into the glass over ice. Pour 4 oz chilled Housemade Bloody Mary Mix over the vodka. Add 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce, 2 dashes hot sauce, 1 tsp celery salt, and finish with 6 turns of freshly ground black pepper.

5

Mix and serve: If using a shaker, gently roll or invert a few times (do not fully shake with ice to avoid over-dilution and foam). If built in the glass, stir gently with a bar spoon for 10–15 seconds to combine and chill. Taste and adjust seasoning (hot sauce or celery salt) to preference.

6

Garnish: Skewer 2 pitted green olives (and a pickle spear if using) and rest on the rim or drop into the glass. Add a celery stalk and a lemon wedge. Serve immediately.
