Classic Ice-Cold Coca-Cola (single serving)

For making from concentrate or syrup (alternative, single serving)

Method

Classic Ice-Cold Coca-Cola (single serving)

  1. 1

Chill glass: Place a tall glass in the refrigerator or fill it with ice water for a few minutes to get it cold (optional but recommended).

  2. 2

Add ice: Remove the glass from the fridge (or dump out the ice water). Add 6 ice cubes to the glass.

  3. 3

Pour Coke: Hold the chilled 12 fl oz bottle or can of Coca-Cola at a slight angle and slowly pour into the glass over the ice to preserve carbonation and minimize foaming.

  4. 4

Garnish and serve: Optionally squeeze a lime wedge over the drink and drop it in. Add a mint sprig for garnish if desired. Serve immediately with a straw or stirring spoon.

For making from concentrate or syrup (alternative, single serving)

  1. 5

Chill glass and ingredients: Ensure soda water and syrup are chilled. If desired, chill the glass ahead of time.

  2. 6

Add ice: Put 6 ice cubes into the glass.

  3. 7

Measure syrup: Pour 4 fl oz of cola syrup into the glass over the ice.

  4. 8

Top with soda water: Slowly add 8 fl oz of chilled soda water over the syrup. Pour gently down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon to reduce foaming and retain carbonation.

  5. 9

Mix gently: Using a long spoon or straw, stir gently 1–2 times to combine syrup and soda water without losing much carbonation.

  6. 10

Garnish and serve: Optionally squeeze a lime wedge into the drink and drop it in. Add a mint sprig for garnish if desired. Serve immediately.
