Assembly

1

Chill glass (optional)

If you prefer an extra-cold drink, place your glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare ingredients, then discard water before building the drink.

2

Add the ice: Fill the prepared glass with large ice cubes to about 3/4 full (roughly 1 cup). Large cubes melt slower and keep the drink from diluting quickly.

3

Open the bottle: Remove the cap from the chilled Mexican Coca‑Cola bottle. Pour slowly down the inside of the glass over the ice to preserve carbonation and reduce foaming. Aim to pour about 12 fl oz — a standard glass bottle portion.

4

Add lime: Cut a quarter of a lime (or a thin wheel) and squeeze its juice over the top of the Coke to taste (about 1/2–1 tsp juice). Drop the squeezed piece into the glass for extra aroma and flavor.

5

Stir gently: Use a bar spoon or regular spoon to give the drink one or two gentle turns to incorporate the lime without flattening the soda.

6

Garnish and serve: Add a mint sprig or a lime wheel on the rim if desired. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.

Notes & variations

7

Sweetness: Mexican Coca‑Cola is made with cane sugar rather than high‑fructose corn syrup, giving a slightly different sweetness. Start with a quarter lime and adjust to taste.

8

Mock-tail variation: For a citrus-forward variation, add a tablespoon of fresh orange juice or a thin orange slice alongside the lime.

9

Alcoholic variation: To make a simple rum and Coke, add 1.5 fl oz (about 44 ml) of white or aged rum before pouring the Coke, then proceed with lime and stir gently.
