Method
Sandwich (choose one)
Spread condiments
Spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise on one slice/side of bread or inside of roll. Spread 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard on the other slice/side. If you prefer toasted, lightly butter outer sides (1 tsp total) of the bread for grilling.
Assemble sandwich
Place the chosen protein (3 oz turkey, roast beef, or ham) on the mayonnaise side. Add one slice of the chosen cheese (provolone, cheddar or Swiss) on top of the meat. Top with lettuce leaf, tomato slices, red onion rings and 3 pickle slices. Close sandwich with second bread slice or roll top.
Optional toast (pan or press)
If toasting, heat a skillet or sandwich press over medium. Place assembled sandwich in skillet, press gently and cook 2–3 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese slightly melted. Remove and let rest 1 minute before packing.
Cut and season
If desired, cut sandwich in half diagonally. Place a salt and pepper packet with the box for extra seasoning.
Side (choose one)
Select one side to include with the sandwich: whole apple (wash and dry), 1/2 cup baby carrots (wash and trim if needed), 1/2 cup mixed fresh fruit (cut into bite-size pieces), or 1 oz potato chips (packaged). Place chosen side into a separate compartment or resealable container.
Snack & Condiments
Add 1 granola bar and optional cookie to the box. Include one salt packet and one pepper packet. If your sandwich is not pre-toasted, include a small butter packet or napkin.
Pack and serve
Place sandwich, chosen side, and snacks into a lunch box or disposable container. Add an ice pack if the box will be out of refrigeration for more than 2 hours. Label with the sandwich choice if preparing multiple boxes. Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 24 hours; for best texture, eat within same day.
