Method
Coffee
- 1
Measure coffee
Measure 1 tablespoon (about 5 g) of Lighthouse Organic Coffee per 6 ounces water. For an 8-cup (64 fl oz) batch use 10 tablespoons (about 50 g) — represented above as 0.033 cups coffee. Adjust strength to taste.
- 2
Grind (if using whole beans)
Grind whole beans to the appropriate consistency: medium-coarse for French press, medium for drip, and medium-fine for pour-over. Grind just before brewing for best flavor (about 30 seconds to 1 minute in a burr grinder depending on model).
- 3
Heat water
Heat filtered water to 195–205°F (90–96°C). If you don't have a thermometer, bring to a boil and let sit 30 seconds. Use 8 cups (64 fl oz / ~1900 ml) of water for the full batch.
- 4
Prepare brewer
If using a paper filter, rinse the filter with hot water to remove paper flavor and preheat the brewer and carafe. Discard rinse water. Add measured ground coffee to the filter or French press.
- 5
Bloom (for pour-over or drip with manual control)
Pour just enough hot water (about twice the coffee weight — ~100 ml for 50 g coffee) to saturate grounds and allow to bloom for 30–45 seconds. This releases gases and improves extraction.
- 6
Finish pouring
Continue pouring slowly and evenly over the grounds (for pour-over) or start the drip machine. Aim for total contact time of 3–4 minutes for drip or pour-over; 4 minutes for French press. For automatic drip, simply start the machine and let it complete the cycle.
- 7
Plunge or remove filter
If using a French press, gently press the plunger down after 4 minutes. If using a pour-over, remove the filter when brewing is complete. For drip, remove carafe and serve immediately.

- 9
Storage / Reheating
Pour any leftover coffee into an airtight thermal carafe to preserve flavor for up to 2–4 hours. Reheating on the stove or microwave will degrade flavor—if reheating, heat gently to just under boiling.
