Method
Long Drink Base
Measure and mix
Add 60 ml dry gin, 20 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice, 40 ml freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, 15 ml sugar-free citrus syrup, and 2 dashes of orange bitters into a cocktail shaker.
Ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (enough to nearly fill), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
Prepare glass
Fill a highball or Collins glass with the large ice cubes or crushed ice (about 1 cup).
Strain
Double-strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over the ice to remove shards and pulp.
Top & Garnish
Top with soda
Gently top the strained cocktail with 120 ml chilled club soda. Pour slowly to preserve carbonation; do not stir vigorously—just one gentle stir or swirl to integrate.
Garnish
Express the oils of a lemon zest over the drink (twist over the glass) then rim the glass with the peel and drop it in (or float a grapefruit wheel). Add the grapefruit wheel or twist and lemon wheel as garnish.
Serve
Serve immediately with a straw if desired. Advise the drinker to sip slowly to enjoy the citrus aromatics and maintain effervescence.
