1

Chill glass

If desired, place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to chill it.

2

Measure and add spirits

Fill a shaker or mixing glass with ice. Pour 2 oz vodka into the shaker.

3

Add fresh juices and sweetener

Add 0.5 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 0.25 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (omit or reduce if you prefer less sweet). These small amounts of juice brighten the seltzer without overpowering it.

4

Shake (optional)

Cap the shaker and give it a quick 5–8 second shake to chill and slightly dilute the mixture. If you prefer maximum fizz, skip shaking and gently stir instead.

5

Prepare glass

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass if used. Fill the glass with fresh ice (about 1 cup).

6

Combine and top with seltzer

Strain the vodka-juice mixture over the ice in the glass. Top with 6 oz grapefruit seltzer, pouring gently to preserve carbonation. Give the drink a single gentle stir with a bar spoon (1–2 turns) to combine.

7

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a grapefruit wedge or wheel on the rim and an optional mint sprig. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
