Place the pint or collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice and water while you prepare ingredients to ensure the beer stays cold longer.

Chill glass

In a small mixing cup or shaker (no shaking with beer), add 3 oz fresh blood orange juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice (if using). Stir gently to combine. Add 1 dash orange bitters if you want extra aromatic complexity.

Combine citrus and sweet

Discard ice/water from the chilled glass (if used) and add a large ice cube or a few ice cubes to the glass to keep the drink chilled without diluting too quickly.

Pour the blood orange mixture over the ice in the chilled glass.

Slowly and gently pour the chilled Farmington Brewing Co. Wheat Ale down the side of the glass so it layers and integrates with the juice without excessive foam. Aim to pour about halfway up and allow the beer to settle; then top off with the rest of the bottle if desired. Pour slowly to control head and retain carbonation.

Give the drink one gentle stir (1–2 turns) to marry flavors while preserving carbonation.

Garnish with a fresh blood orange wedge on the rim or floated on top. Serve immediately.
