Ice Cream Selection (assorted scoops)

Service items

Method

Prep

1

Chill serviceware

Place bowls or waffle cones on a clean surface. For best results, chill dessert bowls in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes beforehand to slow melting.

2

Soften scoops slightly

Remove chosen pints from the freezer 2–3 minutes before scooping to ease portioning but keep them firm enough to hold shape.

Assemble scoops

3

Using a warmed ice cream scoop (dip in hot water and shake off), place 2–3 scoops of different flavors into the bowl or cone. Arrange scoops so colors contrast and balance (for example: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry).

4

If serving a larger selection for sharing, present 4–6 small scoops (1 scoop each of multiple flavors) on a platter or in a divided serving dish.

Add sauces & toppings

5

Drizzle 1–2 tablespoons of hot fudge, caramel, or strawberry sauce over each serving, depending on flavor pairings (chocolate goes with vanilla or mint; caramel pairs well with chocolate or pistachio).

6

Add 1–2 tablespoons whipped cream on top of each serving. Sprinkle optional chopped nuts, cookie crumbs, or sprinkles to taste (about 1–2 tablespoons).

7

Garnish with 1–2 maraschino cherries per serving.

Serve

8

Serve immediately with a dessert spoon alongside the waffle cone or bowl to prevent melting. Offer additional sauces on the side if desired.

9

If plating multiple flavors for tasting, label each flavor or provide a short description so guests know the selection.
