Cocktail

Method

Prepare glass

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.

Mixing the cocktail

2

Add 2 oz Bulleit Bourbon, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters to a mixing glass.

3

Fill the mixing glass with ice (about 1 cup or enough to come near the rim).

4

Stir the mixture gently with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 strokes) until well chilled and slightly diluted. Aim for a silky, cold texture rather than rapid agitation — do not shake.

5

Discard the ice or water from your chilled coupe/martini glass.

6

Using a strainer, strain the stirred Manhattan into the chilled glass.

Garnish & finish

7

Thread one maraschino cherry onto a pick (or drop it into the glass) and place it in the cocktail.

8

Optional: Express an orange peel over the surface by holding it skin-side down above the drink and giving it a quick pinch to release oils, then rub the rim with the peel and discard or drop it into the drink.

9

Serve immediately.
