Sparkling Water

Method

Sparkling Water

  1. 1

    Chill bottle or can

If the San Pellegrino is not already chilled, place the bottle or can in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or in an ice bucket for 20–30 minutes until cold. Serving cold preserves carbonation and provides the best flavor.

  2. 2

    Prepare glass

Select a clean glass (tumbler or highball). If you prefer your sparkling water very cold, add 3–4 ice cubes to the glass. Note: too many ice cubes will dilute with melt; use ice only if desired.

  3. 3

    Open carefully

Hold the bottle or can upright. For a bottle, gently twist and remove the cap; avoid shaking to prevent fizzing. For a can, lift the tab slowly to let pressure release gradually and reduce spillage or excessive bubbling.

  4. 4

    Pour

Tilt the glass at about a 45° angle and pour the San Pellegrino slowly down the inner side to preserve carbonation and minimize foam. Fill to desired level, typically about 10–12 fl oz (300–350 ml) for a standard serving.

  5. 5

    Garnish (optional)

If desired, squeeze the lemon wedge lightly over the surface to add a fresh citrus note, then drop the wedge into the glass. Optionally clap the mint sprig between your palms to release aroma and add it as a garnish. Stir gently once with a spoon if you added lemon to distribute flavor.

  6. 6

Serve immediately while sparkling. Store any remaining sealed bottle or can in the refrigerator and consume within 1–2 days for best carbonation; once opened, cover and consume promptly as effervescence will decrease.
