Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place two coupe or martini glasses in the refrigerator or freezer to chill while you prepare the cocktail (at least 5 minutes).

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 1 cup chilled cold brew concentrate, 3 tablespoons vodka, 1.5 tablespoons coffee liqueur, 1 tablespoon simple syrup (or vanilla syrup), and 1 tablespoon additional cold brew espresso concentrate if using for extra intensity.

  3. 3

    Add ice

Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice, enough to come near the top of the liquid but leaving room to shake vigorously.

  4. 4

    Dry shake (optional)

For a silkier, frothier top, first shake the ingredients without ice for 8–10 seconds. This helps emulsify the mixture and develop crema-like foam.

  5. 5

    Wet shake

Add the ice if you performed a dry shake (or if you did not, proceed from the previous step) and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the outside has condensation. This chills and dilutes the cocktail properly.

  6. 6

    Double strain and serve

Remove the chilled glasses from the fridge/freezer. Double strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glasses using a Hawthorne or standard cocktail strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and produce a smooth surface.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 7

    Create the foam (if desired)

If the shaken cocktail produced a frothy top, gently use a spoon to keep the foam centered. If you want extra foam, you can pour from a higher distance to increase aeration or double dry-shake before adding ice.

  2. 8

    Garnish

Place three whole coffee beans evenly spaced on the foam for a classic espresso martini presentation. Lightly dust with 1/2 teaspoon chocolate shavings or a small sprinkle of cocoa powder, if desired.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately while chilled. Provide a small cocktail spoon if you used chocolate shavings so guests can stir if they like.
