Milk Preparation

Method

Milk Preparation

1

Cold milk, ready-to-drink

Measure 1 cup of cold milk into a clean glass. If desired, stir in 1 teaspoon sweetener (honey or sugar) and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract until dissolved. Optionally sprinkle 1/4–1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or cocoa on top and stir. Serve immediately chilled.

2

Warm milk (soothing)

Pour 1 cup of milk into a small saucepan. Warm over low to medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until steam rises and small bubbles form around the edge (do not boil) — about 3–5 minutes. Remove from heat. Whisk in 1 teaspoon honey or sugar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract if using. Optionally whisk in 1/2 teaspoon cocoa or 1/4–1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Taste and adjust sweetener. Pour into a mug and serve warm.

3

Frothed milk (for coffee/latte)

Pour 1 cup of cold milk into a microwave-safe jar with lid or a milk frother. If using a jar, screw lid lightly and shake vigorously for 30–60 seconds until frothy. Remove lid and microwave for 20–30 seconds to stabilize foam. Alternatively, steam or use an electric handheld frother until foamy. Optionally stir in 1/4 teaspoon vanilla or sweetener before frothing. Spoon foam over coffee or pour milk into cup and top with foam.

4

Storage: Fresh opened milk should be kept refrigerated at 4°C (40°F) or below and consumed within 5–7 days or by the printed sell-by/use-by guidance. Reheat only the portion you will drink; avoid repeatedly reheating the same milk.
