Ingredients
PURE TEA (UNSWEETENED)
PURE TEA (UNSWEETENED)
1. Hot jasmine tea (single-strength, serves 4)
1. Measure 4 cups of filtered water. 2. Heat the water to 175–185°F (80–85°C). If you don't have a thermometer, heat until small bubbles form but the water does not reach a rolling boil. 3. Place 4 jasmine green tea bags into a large teapot or heatproof pitcher. If using loose leaf instead, put 4 tsp loose jasmine tea into an infuser or tea strainer. 4. Pour the hot water over the tea bags or infuser, making sure the tea is fully submerged. 5. Cover and steep for 2 to 3 minutes for a bright, floral cup. Steep closer to 3 minutes for fuller flavor but avoid steeping more than 4 minutes to prevent bitterness. 6. Remove and discard the tea bags or lift out the infuser/strainer. 7. Swirl or gently stir the brewed tea, then pour into warmed cups and serve immediately.
2. Iced jasmine tea (double-strength brew, serves 4)
1. For iced tea, brew double-strength so the final iced tea is not overly diluted: bring 4 cups of filtered water to 175–185°F (80–85°C). 2. Place 8 jasmine tea bags (or 8 tsp loose jasmine tea in an infuser) into a heatproof pitcher. 3. Pour the hot water over the tea and cover; steep 3 minutes. 4. Remove and discard the tea bags or remove the infuser/strainer. 5. Fill a serving pitcher or individual glasses with about 2 cups of ice total (adjust to preference). 6. Pour the hot double-strength tea over the ice; the ice will cool and slightly dilute the brew to the correct strength. 7. Stir briefly to chill evenly. Serve immediately over additional ice if desired.
3. Notes and alternatives
1. If you prefer cold-brewed jasmine tea (smoother, less bitter): add 4 tsp loose jasmine tea or 4 tea bags to 4 cups cold filtered water in a pitcher, cover, and refrigerate 6–8 hours. Strain or remove bags before serving over ice. 2. Adjust steep time in small increments (30 seconds) to suit your taste: shorter for lighter, floral notes; longer for a stronger flavor. 3. Use the loose-leaf option in a fine mesh infuser or teapot with a strainer to avoid sediment.
