Base (makes ~1 quart)

Sweetener & Flavor

Method

Base (makes ~1 quart)

1

Pour 4 cups of cold whole milk into a clean 1-quart container or pitcher with a tight-fitting lid.

Sweetener & Flavor

2

Add 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of fine sea salt to the milk.

3

Stir or whisk vigorously until the sugar is fully dissolved (about 30–45 seconds). If you prefer a smoother mouthfeel, use an immersion blender or shake in the closed pitcher for 20–30 seconds.

Optional Add-ins

4

Cinnamon Quart

If using ground cinnamon: add 1/4 teaspoon to the milk mixture and whisk or shake thoroughly until evenly distributed.

5

Coffee Quart (iced coffee base)

If making a coffee-flavored quart: substitute 1/2 cup of the milk with cooled strong coffee or espresso (add it to the container and stir to combine). Adjust sugar to taste if the coffee is bitter.

6

Chocolate Quart

For chocolate: stir in 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup until fully incorporated. Taste and add more syrup if you prefer a sweeter chocolate flavor.

7

Golden (turmeric) Quart

For a golden milk variation: add 1/8 teaspoon ground turmeric and whisk well. Optionally warm a small portion of the milk first to bloom turmeric before chilling (see note).

Chill & Serve

8

Seal the container and chill in the refrigerator at least 1 hour to let flavors meld. Shake briefly before serving as some ingredients may settle.

9

Serve cold in glasses over ice if desired. The quart yields about four 1-cup servings.
