Base

Marshmallow Layer

Jimmies (Sprinkle) Topping

Method

Base

1

Soften Ice Cream

Let the vanilla ice cream sit at room temperature for 3–5 minutes until scoopable but still cold. Alternatively, microwave on LOW in 5–7 second bursts, stirring between bursts, until scoopable.

2

Scoop 2 cups of softened vanilla ice cream into a chilled sundae glass or bowl, creating a smooth, even base layer.

Marshmallow Layer

3

Warm Fluff and Marshmallows

Place the mini marshmallows, marshmallow creme, and milk in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on medium (50% power) for 10–15 seconds, then stir. Repeat in 5–10 second intervals just until the mini marshmallows begin to meld and the mixture is pourable but not boiling (total heating about 20–30 seconds).

4

If you prefer a toasted flavor: after warming, spoon the marshmallow mixture over the ice cream and use a kitchen torch to lightly toast the surface of the marshmallow topping until golden (keep torch moving to avoid burning).

5

Alternatively, for no torch: spoon the warm marshmallow mixture over the ice cream and allow to set for 1–2 minutes; it will slightly firm but remain soft and gooey.

Jimmies (Sprinkle) Topping

6

Immediately after applying the marshmallow layer (while still tacky), sprinkle 2 tablespoons chocolate jimmies evenly over the marshmallow. Add 1 tablespoon rainbow jimmies on top for color contrast.

7

Press a few jimmies gently into the marshmallow layer so they adhere and won't fall off when serving.

Finishing

8

Top the sundae with 2 tablespoons whipped cream in a swirl or dollop.

9

If using, sprinkle 1 teaspoon chopped toasted nuts around the whipped cream for texture and a nutty note.

10

Serve immediately with a long spoon. If preparing ahead, assemble all components except the marshmallow layer and jimmies; add those just before serving to preserve texture.
