Coffee and water

Method

Brew coffee

1

Measure coffee

Scoop 2 tablespoons of Folgers Classic Roast ground coffee per 6 ounces of water. Adjust to taste if you prefer a stronger or weaker cup (1 to 2 tablespoons per 6 oz).

2

Prepare water

Pour 6 ounces of fresh cold water into your kettle or coffee maker’s reservoir for each cup you plan to brew. For one serving use 6 oz; for a standard 12 oz mug use 4 tablespoons coffee and 12 oz water.

3

Heat and brew

If using a drip coffee maker: add the measured ground coffee to a paper or reusable filter, pour the water into the reservoir, and start the brew cycle. If using a pour-over: place filter in dripper, wet filter with hot water to remove papery taste and preheat vessel, discard rinse water, add grounds, bloom with about twice the coffee weight in hot water (just off boil, ~200°F / 93°C) for 30 seconds, then slowly pour remaining water in concentric circles until 6 oz has been added. If using a French press: add grounds to the carafe, pour hot water (just off boil) over grounds, stir gently, steep 4 minutes, then press the plunger down evenly.

4

Serve

Once brewing is complete, pour the coffee into a mug. If using a drip machine, serve immediately to enjoy optimal flavor.

Finish and customize

5

Add milk or cream: stir in 2 tablespoons of milk or cream, or to taste.

6

Sweeten: add 1 teaspoon of sugar or sweetener and stir until dissolved. For flavored coffee, add 1 teaspoon of flavored syrup and mix.

7

Taste and adjust: sample the coffee and adjust strength, dairy, or sweetness to personal preference.
