Cheese Options & Prep

1

Choose and measure cheeses

Select the cheeses you want to add. Measure 1 cup shredded cheddar and 1 cup shredded mozzarella for a stretchy, flavorful blend; add 1/4 cup grated Parmesan for a salty, nutty finish. Adjust quantities proportionally for more or less cheese.

2

Taste and season

Combine the shredded cheddar, shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper and 1/4 tsp salt over the cheese and toss lightly to distribute. If the base dish is already salty, omit or reduce added salt.

Binding & Finishing (optional)

3

Make a light binder (optional)

If you want a creamier melt or are topping a casserole, whisk together 1 tablespoon melted butter with 2 tablespoons milk or cream. Drizzle this over the cheese and toss gently—this helps the cheese brown evenly and remain moist.

4

Add to your dish

Scatter the prepared cheese mixture evenly over the hot dish you are finishing (pizza, casserole, pasta, vegetables, baked potato, etc.). If using the butter/cream binder, distribute the cheese so the binder coats the surface lightly.

5

Melt and brown

Place the dish under a preheated broiler or into an oven at 400°F (200°C). Broil or bake for 2–6 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and reaches your desired level of browning. For stovetop finishes, cover with a lid over medium-low heat for 2–4 minutes until melted.

6

Finish and serve

Remove the dish from heat. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley if using. Let rest 1–2 minutes to set slightly, then serve immediately.
