1

Build the drink

Chill a highball glass by filling it with ice or placing in the freezer briefly. Discard the chilling ice if used. Add fresh ice (large cubes or a single large sphere) to the chilled highball so the glass is about 3/4 full.

2

Measure and pour spirits

Pour 1.5 oz Fidencio Clásico mezcal, 0.5 oz El Dorado 12 yr aged rum, and 0.25 oz Fernet-Branca directly into the glass over the ice.

3

Add lime

Squeeze 0.5 oz (about half a medium lime) of fresh lime juice into the glass. If you prefer slightly brighter citrus, zest one quick lime twist over the drink before adding the juice.

4

Top with Mexican Coke

Slowly top with 4 oz cold Mexican Coke. Pour gently down a bar spoon or the inside of the glass to preserve carbonation and create a light layered effect.

5

Light stir and finish

Give the drink a gentle two- or three-stroke stir to integrate the spirits, Fernet, lime, and cola without over-diluting. Taste and adjust: if it needs more brightness, add a splash (0.25 oz) more lime juice; if sweeter, add a short splash (0.25 oz) more Coke.

6

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw if desired; encourage the drinker to enjoy the smoky mezcal and rich rum notes balanced by the bitter herbal Fernet and fizzy cola.
