Build & Finish

1

Chill glass

Place a highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare ingredients to ensure the drink stays cold.

2

Prepare ice and lime

If you used ice water to chill the glass, discard it. Fill the chilled highball glass about three-quarters full with large ice cubes (or crushed ice if you prefer a colder, slightly more diluted drink). Cut half a fresh lime into a wheel and set aside; juice the remaining half and reserve the juice.

3

Add spirits

Pour 1.5 oz Fidencio Clásico mezcal, 0.5 oz El Dorado 12 Year rum, and 0.25 oz Fernet-Branca directly into the glass over the ice.

4

Add lime juice

Add the 0.5 lime fruit's juice (about 0.5 oz depending on fruit size) into the glass to bring freshness and acidity that balances the spirit mix.

5

Top with Mexican Coke

Gently pour 4 oz chilled Mexican Coca-Cola down the side of the glass to top up the drink. Stir once gently with a bar spoon (3–4 rotations) to integrate the spirits with the cola without flattening the carbonation.

6

Garnish and serve

Express the oils of the reserved lime wheel over the surface by giving it a light squeeze and run it around the rim, then drop into the glass as garnish. Serve immediately with a straw if desired.

7

Optional variation

For a smokier emphasis, briefly rinse the glass with 0.25 oz mezcal before adding ice and discard excess; reduce mezcal in build to 1.25 oz. For a slightly more bitter profile, float an additional 0.125–0.25 oz Fernet-Branca on top instead of stirring it in.
