Method

Spicy Sauce Base

1

Combine creamy base

In a medium mixing bowl, add 1 cup mayonnaise and 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt. Whisk together until smooth and homogenous.

2

Add 2 tablespoons tomato paste and whisk again until the color is even and the paste is fully incorporated.

Chili Heat & Flavor

3

To the mixed base, add 2 tablespoons hot sauce and 1 tablespoon gochujang. Whisk thoroughly to disperse the chili pastes evenly. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to incorporate all paste.

4

Stir in 1 teaspoon smoked paprika and 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne. Taste after mixing to judge overall heat; you can increase hot sauce or cayenne in 1/8 tsp increments if you want it hotter.

Aromatics & Brightness

5

Add 2 teaspoons minced garlic and 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger to the bowl. Mix briefly so the aromatics distribute through the sauce.

6

Pour in 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and 1 teaspoon rice vinegar. Whisk until the sauce emulsifies slightly and brightens in flavor.

Seasoning & Balance

7

Add 1 teaspoon honey (or maple syrup), 1 teaspoon soy sauce, and 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil. Whisk to combine.

8

Season with 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt and 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper. Stir, then taste and adjust: add a pinch more salt for savoriness, more honey for sweetness, or an extra 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice for brightness if desired.

Optional Garnish / Texture

9

Fold in 1 tablespoon finely chopped scallion and 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds if using, or reserve them to sprinkle on top when serving.

Resting & Storage

10

Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or transfer the sauce to an airtight container. Refrigerate at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld; for best results, refrigerate 4–12 hours.

11

Keeps refrigerated up to 7 days. Stir or shake before using. Bring to room temperature for 10–15 minutes if the sauce firms up in the fridge.
