signature pork cheek
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, black pepper, and sugar. Add the pork cheeks and marinate for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) in the refrigerator.
Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Remove pork cheeks from the marinade, reserving the marinade, and sear them in the hot pan until browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Pour the reserved marinade and water into the pan with the seared pork cheeks. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the pork cheeks are tender.
Once cooked, remove the pork cheeks from the pan and allow them to rest for a few minutes. Slice and serve, garnished with chopped green onions.
