Sauternes is best served chilled but not ice-cold. Aim for 8–10°C (46–50°F). Remove the 375 ml bottle from storage about 30–45 minutes before serving if it has been stored at cellar temperature; if stored at room temperature, chill it in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours.

Assess serving temperature

Fill a bucket or large container with cracked ice and a little water. Submerge the bottle for 10–15 minutes, gently rotating it once or twice to chill evenly. Do not leave the bottle in direct contact with ice for too long to avoid over-chilling.

Quick chill (if short on time)

Check the cork and neck for any seepage or damage. Sauternes Les Garonelles 375 ml is usually sealed with a cork—ensure the cork is intact and the fill level is normal.

Inspect the bottle

Using a waiter’s corkscrew or wine key, carefully remove the capsule and cork. Wipe the bottle rim with a clean cloth if needed. Because this is a sweet wine, pour slowly to avoid splashing and foam.

Open the bottle

After opening, re-cork and store the bottle upright in the refrigerator. Consume within 3–5 days for best flavor; some freshness and aromatic intensity may diminish after the first 48 hours.

Short-term storage

If the sweetness feels intense, serve small sips of still water alongside the wine to cleanse the palate between bites and sips.
