Method

Martini

1

Chill glass

Place a martini glass or coupe in the freezer for several minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to properly chill it.

2

Prepare mixing glass

Fill a mixing glass or cocktail shaker with the ice (about 6 pieces) to ensure proper dilution and chilling.

3

Measure and combine

Pour 2.5 oz Grey Goose vodka and 0.25 oz dry vermouth into the mixing glass over the ice.

4

Stir (or shake) the cocktail

Stir the mixture with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted. If you prefer a shaken martini, shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold.

5

Prepare serving glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, discard the ice water now and dry the glass briefly.

6

Strain and garnish

Using a julep strainer or the shaker's strainer, double-strain the chilled martini into the chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist (express oils over the surface and drop in) or skewered green olive and serve immediately.
