Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
Pull espresso
Brew a single shot (about 1 oz) of fresh espresso. Allow it to cool slightly (30–60 seconds) so it’s hot but not boiling — best flavor comes from freshly made, still-warm espresso.
Prepare shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice (approximately 6 ice cubes) to properly chill and dilute the drink.
Combine ingredients
Pour 2 oz vodka, 1 oz cooled fresh espresso, 1 oz coffee liqueur, and 0.5 oz simple syrup into the shaker over the ice.
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds. Aim for a hard, fast shake to create a silky, frothy crema on top from the espresso and aeration.
Strain
Double-strain the mixture into a chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne or fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and produce a smooth pour.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with 3 coffee beans placed on the foam. Serve immediately while the crema is still present.
