Fried Chicken
Method
Cooking Fried Chicken
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and chicken pieces. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated.
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil. Fry for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through, turning occasionally.
Drain and Serve
Remove the chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with fries.
